The Journey Ahead: 2017 – Intro

It’s hard to believe that its been over 3 years since I actively posted on #MYJTC. I have been working the concept and principles but just couldn’t find the time to post about it. It’s been on my list for quite sometime to get back at posting. I really enjoy sharing through this blog. It’s therapeutic for me and the interactions really help me stay focused on the journey ahead. Most importantly, if I somehow in anyway help someone else with their journey, even just one person, it makes it all worthwhile. The other day I saw a funny quote that solidified my commitment to start posting again.

“I DON’T HAVE TIME” IS THE GROWN-UP VERSION OF “THE DOG ATE MY HOMEWORK.”

It’s so true. It is all about priorities.  Everything is a trade off.  The true answer is “It wasn’t a priority.” That is the true answer for anything you don’t start or complete. If I am truly honest with myself (and you) I can look back and see plenty of time to post regularly that was replaced with some unproductive and unfulfilling activity. (Damn you Netflix!) No more excuses, for 2017 I plan on posting regularly and really working the Convergence points. I am not sure how often I will post just yet.  First I need a plan which brings me to the true purpose of today’s post:

The Journey Ahead: 2017

Every year for roughly the past 16 years, I’ve spent the last couple weeks of December reviewing the past year and planning a road map for the year ahead. It is a high level plan of action for the year with measurable goals. In 2011, when I launched JTC, I added goals for each of the Convergence points to the process. I am not talking about “New Years Resolutions” that won’t last through January or vague goals like “Lose Weight.” I am talking about clear measurable goals along with a few dreams that may very well change throughout the year. Remember, it’s all about priorities. Everything is a trade off. Those priorities may change mid year and that’s OK as long as you aware of it and then plan for that change.

Between now and 12/31/2016 I will take you through what I do each year in hopes that some or all of it will help you plan for a successful 2017. All you will need is approximately an hour a day, your favorite writing instrument and paper or your favorite journal to complete the process. I like starting in a fresh new LEUCHTTURM1917 journal. The definition of success is completely up to you and your plan. If you already have your own process, GREAT. I would love to hear about it. I am always looking for that next tip or trick to improve myself and my processes.
